| CXCL2;MIP-2

C-X-C Motif Chemokine 2 (CXCL2; MIP-2), also known as Macrophage Inflammatory Protein 2-alpha (MIP2-α), is a small cytokine belonging to the CXC chemokine family. It shares 90% amino acid sequence identity with the related chemokine CXCL1. This chemokine is secreted by monocytes and macrophages and exerts chemotactic effects on polymorphonuclear leukocytes and hematopoietic stem cells. Its gene resides within the cluster of other CXC chemokines on chromosome 4. It mobilizes cells by interacting with the cell surface chemokine receptor known as CXCR2. Like related chemokines, it is a potent neutrophil chemotactic factor and participates in numerous immune responses, including wound healing, cancer metastasis, and angiogenesis.
