| HIV-1 gp120

HIV Gp120 is a glycoprotein on the surface of the HIV viral envelope, playing a critical role in the process of viral infection of host cells. The Gp120 (318-327) fragment is located near the V3 loop of the Gp120 protein. The V3 loop is one of the key regions for HIV virus binding to receptors on the surface of host cells. Some amino acid residues in this fragment participate in the interaction between the virus and the host cell surface chemokine receptors CCR5 or CXCR4.
